The Belmont is a departure from Austin. It’s also a departure from the 21st century,
with plenty of lush, buttonedupholstery, Frank Sinatra playing overhead and an overall
Vegas Mob vibe going on. With is retro Rat Packian ambiance and sleek, downtown
crowd, the Belmont is as close to L.A. as you can get in Austin. The heavily wood-paneled
Dakota Lounge is a jostling, Scotch-drinkers scene, while the ground-level outdoor patio offers
a beachy, resort feel, where the waiters wear khaki shorts and you sip a mai tai. Suavity achieved.
The rooftop palm terrace,one of several cocktail areas is a superb place to temper those martinis.
